The Evergreen Tree

As I was driving home, I saw a leaf falling from a tree so gracefully. I wondered if that’s how people are. Do we fall gracefully? Or do we fall hard and once it happens, is there no return? As for a leaf, it turns brown if not already turned by the weathering. After turning brown, it either crumbles into pieces and fades away, or it just flies away somewhere else where it later disappears without a trace. Is that how people work? Do we fall and weather away as our hearts crumble to pieces with time and regret? And when does it begin? I am still quite young, but it feels as though I am falling gracefully like a leaf. I was connected to a branch that was led by the vine, but now the branch has lost touch with the vine and instead of growing and spreading the branch to gain more leaves, as it would connected to the vine, it falls and withers away. I fear that as I am slowly falling, I will never be in touch with the vine again. But the thing with the vine is that after the leaves all fall off, also known as pruning season, the process of the leaves begins to start growing again. The prettiest trees have always been different colored ones. The white and pomegranate crape myrtles, magnolias, cherry blossoms, willows, etc. But the tree that lasts all the time is the evergreen. Throughout all the seasons it remains green, it remains connected to the vine. I want to be like the evergreen but my mind and heart lead me to want to be the pretty colored trees that stand out from the boring basic green trees. However, the colored trees never remain forever. The evergreen may be simple and boring or basic, but it loves like nobody else every season, not just in the spring and summer, but in all seasons the evergreen stays green and does not lose its leaves. Although there’s influence to be the pretty colored trees who have much upkeep and essence to them, it was their looks that lead to their downfall. But the evergreen does not stand out too much, but it inspires me to stick with it and know that it was always beautiful no matter what anyone else thought. The only thing that matters is the vine on the evergreen and the truths that it shares to prepare the life for eternity. Instead of being influenced by the pretty colored trees that only remain for awhile, choose to be the evergreen that is consistent and remains steadfast in every season no matter rain or shine.
